  • 1951

    Founded Limited Partnership Arai Seisakusho in Asakusaishihama-cho with capital of 200,000 yen.
    Commenced manufacturing leather packing and patented leather buttons for industrial use.

  • 1954

    Commence the research of sealing performance of oil seals.

  • 1955

    Discovered the “Oil’s Absorption Effect” and produce our first model of oil seals.

  • 1956

    Reorganized into Arai Seisakusho Co., Ltd.
    Capital increased to 2 million yen.

  • 1957

    Ars rubber seals adopted as the parts for the intermediate shaft of 2 stroke 2 cylinder engines of Yamaha motorcycle’s racing bikes.
    Yamaha team’s clean sweep of the Asama race made our superior technologies known to the world.

  • 1958

    Capital increased to 4 million yen.
    Participated in a Tokyo Motor Show for the first time.
    Ars rubber seal adopted for all Yamaha’s motorcycles.

  • 1959

    Ars rubber seals adopted for Honda race cars.

  • 1960

    Capital increased to 9.7 million yen.
    Established Hamamatsu Office.

  • 1961

    Honda swept the first six places at the United Kingdom’s Isle of Man TT race (All the motorcycles used Ars seals).
    Capital increased to 25 million yen.

  • 1963

    Capital increased to 50 million yen.

  • 1965

    With the equity participation of Tokyo Small and Medium Business Investment & Consultation Co., Ltd., Capital increased to 100 million yen.
    Established Osaka Sales Office.

  • 1966

    Completed the first stage construction of Tsukuba Factory and commenced the operation.

  • 1967

    Established Nagoya Sales Office.

  • 1968

    Valve Stem Seals with AF materials adopted in the R-type engines of Toyota cars.

  • 1972

    Completed the construction of full-scale manufacturing facilities at Tsukuba Factory.
    Commenced producing rollers for copiers.

  • 1974

    Established Akita Ars Co., Ltd.

  • 1975

    Established Kumamoto Sales Office.
    Capital increased to 250 million yen.

  • 1977

    Entered into the technical cooperation with Sowa Industries Co., Ltd.

  • 1978

    Established Sagami Office for sales enhancement of copier rollers.
    Commenced the production of reed valves of motorcycle engines.
    Filed the international patent application of the new product ‘FS seal’ (with the ARFRON).
    Commenced manufacturing mechanical seals.
    Capital increased to 400 million yen with allocation of new share to third parties.

  • 1980

    Completed the construction of Mase Factory in Ibaraki prefecture manufacturing reed valves.

  • 1981

    Established Saitama Sales Office.

  • 1985

    Established Tochigi Office.
    Completed the construction of Tsukuba-Nishi Factory manufacturing OA device parts such as rollers and blades.
    Celebrated the 30th anniversary of the founding of the company at Tsukuba-Nishi Factory.
    Established Iwate Arai Co., Ltd.
    Ars products adopted in F1 machine for the first time.

  • 1986

    New product “KZ seal” released.

  • 1987

    Established A.R.S. Manufacturing Inc. in Virginia, the United States.

  • 1989

    Entered into the technical assistance agreement with Hi-Tech Ancillaries Ltd. in India with the purpose of strengthening ties.
    Established P.T. Arai Rubber Seal Indonesia, as a joint venture with Indonesia’s Astra Group and Japan-ASEAN Investment.
    (Predecessor: P.T. Astra Rubber Seal Industry).

  • 1991

    Established Thai Arai Co., Ltd. in Thailand’s as a joint venture with Thailand’s Saha Pathana Interholding, Thai-Yazaki Electric Wire Co., Ltd., Japan-ASEAN Investment and Mitsubishi Corporation.

  • 1992

    Established Niigata Arai Co., Ltd.
    (Predecessor: Koei Seisakusho Co., Ltd.).

  • 1994

    Acquired capital in India’s Hi-Tech Ancillaries Ltd. along with Mitsubishi Corporation and changed the company’s name to “Hi-Tech Arai Limited”.

  • 1995

    Established Wuhan Arai Oil Seal Mfg. Co., Ltd. in Wuhan City, China as a joint venture.

  • 1998

    Obtained ISO9001 quality assurance certification.

  • 2000

    Acquired one-hundred percent ownership of Takaei Seisakusho Co., Ltd. and changed the name to Niigata Arai Co., Ltd.
    Established Arai International Corporation (H.K.) Ltd. in Hong Kong.

  • 2001

    Established Dong Guan Arai Rubber Products Ltd. established in Dong Guan City, Guangdong Province, China.
    Established Arai Americas, Inc. in Virginia in the U.S.

  • 2002

    Obtained ISO14001 standard accreditation certification.
    Obtained ISO 9001:2000 standard accreditation certification.
    Completed the construction of the new factory of Dong Guan Arai Rubber Products Ltd. in China.

  • 2003

    Entered into the business collaboration agreement with JTEKT Corporation※
    ※Formerly known as Koyo Seiko Co., Ltd.

  • 2005

    Established Vietnam Arai Co., Ltd.

  • 2011

    Moved the head office to Tsukubamirai City in Ibaraki Prefecture.

  • 2014

    Moved the head office to Chuo City in Tokyo.
